The PostMedia Condition
Peter Weibel
One of the most important factors of the hybrid condition of today´s art practices is the relationship between arts, sciences and technologies. Such relations develop a new concept of third culture, not based on the conflict between traditional humanistic values and scientific systems, but on the interactions between them.
Nowadays all of art practice keeps to the script of the media and the rules of the media. This notion of the media comprises not only the old and new technical media, from photography to computers, but also the old analogue media such as painting and sculpture which have been transformed and influenced under the
pressure of the technical media. This explains why we can rightly say that all of art practice keeps to the script of the media.
